Female body painting is a tradition associated with Xingu Indian ceremonies
and rituals. In this image, these indian girls are painting each other in
preparation for the "Jogos Indigenas" (Indigenous Games) of Campo Novo, Mato
Grosso, Brazil. Each year, the native tribes of the State of Mato Grosso
in Brazil compete against each other in their equivalent of the Olympic Games.
The Indigenous Games have opening ceremonies just like the Olympic Games do, and
they are extremely colorful with the indigenous people demonstrating their
traditional body painting.
